The 21st International Conference on Intelligent Environments, to be held on 23.-26 June 2025 in Darmstadt, Germany, is inviting proposals for Tutorials to be held on the first two days of the conference. The Tutorial Program is intended to provide a comprehensive introduction to emerging trends and research topics of interest and inform industrial practitioners about the field’s state-of-the-art.

IE 2025 Tutorials should serve one or more of the following objectives:

  • Introduce novices to major topics of IE research.
  • Survey a mature area of IE research or practice.
  • Introduce expert non-specialists to an IE sub-area.
  • Motivate and explain an IE topic of emerging importance.
  • Introduce IE audiences to an external topic that can motivate or use IE research.

Tutorials should aim to attract a wide audience by being broad enough to provide a basic introduction to the chosen area, but they should also cover the most important topics in depth. Each tutorial should be well-focused so that its content can be covered in one or two 90-minute slots. Tutorials should not be used to advocate a single avenue of research, nor should they amount to a commercial demonstration of a product.

Proposal guidelines
The proposal should concisely and clearly describe the content and objectives of the tutorial, allowing the organizers to judge the importance, quality, and community interest in the proposed topic. include the following:

  • Title & 3-5 sentence abstract of the tutorial.
  • Names, affiliations, and contact information of lecturers.
  • Format: Please specify whether the tutorial will be given in a single 90-minute or two 90-minute slots (with a short break in between) and whether it will be delivered in-person (strongly preferred option) or online/hybrid (in the latter case, indicate which lecturers will be on-site).
  • Intended audience (one paragraph): Describe the background that attendees should have since tutorials may range from introductions suitable for attendees new to a topic to advanced presentations targeting narrow sub-field experts.
  • Description of the tutorial (2-3 paragraphs), including objectives, motivation, and relevance of both the tutorial topic and the contents included in it.
  • Content outline (preliminary), showing the tutorial’s structure and core content as a bullet list (5-10 items) indicating the main sections of the material, and demonstrating that it can be covered in the assigned time slot(s).
  • Optionally, any additional information deemed necessary or appropriate to provide.
  • Bios: A brief (one paragraph) bio of each tutorial lecturer showcasing their expertise in the topic.
